Our doctors work closely with referring physicians to diagnose and treat disorders of the nervous system including diseases of the brain, nerves, muscles and spinal cord. The providers are experts in all areas of neurological treatment and care including Muscular Dystrophy, ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer's and, Parkinson's Disease, Huntington's Disease, Cerebrovascular Disease, Seizure Disorders and Stroke Symptoms. In addition, we provide long-term care to patients with chronic neurological disorders.


Texas Neurology is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Assistant to join our Dallas-Lakewood office. We have a dynamic, friendly work environment where patient care is of the utmost importance. Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast paced, high volume environment. Excellent verbal communication skills with prior medical office and Electronic Medical Record experience required. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years medical office experience, and has a stable job history with longevity within their positions previously held.


GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

  • Responsible for assisting providers and professional staff with patient care, administrative, environmental and organizational tasks.
  • Assists with schedule management and is responsible for patient record management.
  • Provides information to patients so that they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services.
  • Conveys a positive image of clinical services.
  • Maintains confidentiality and abides by all HIPAA rules and regulations.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent customer service
  • Excellent spoken English (Bilingual a plus)
  • Tactfulness in dealing with patients and physicians
  • Must have good business writing skills
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented
  • Professional appearance

KNOWLEDGE, PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Medical Assistant program and current certification
  • Maintains CPR certification
  • Knowledge of health care field and medical specialty
  • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families
  • Knowledge of prior authorizations process
  • Working knowledge of Government and Managed Care Payers
  • PC/ Windows environment experience
  • E-Clinical Works a plus (EHR)
  • Heavy patient interaction within a medical setting

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Combination of office and exam settings. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.


PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
